Job Summary

As a Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice at Waste Management, you will work under direct supervision and follow established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. Your primary responsibility will be to perform minor repairs and limited preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Perform minor repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
  • Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Assist in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
  • Wash vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles.
  • Assist senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
  • Assist with service calls for breakdowns.
  • Perform other maintenance related work as required.
Requirements
  • Registered Apprentice
  • No prior work experience required
  • Valid drivers license and must have an acceptable driving record
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and physical
Work Environment

As a Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice, you will be required to work in a repair/maintenance shop environment. You will be exposed to physical occupational risks, such as cuts, burns, and exposure to toxic chemicals. You will also be required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity and exert physical effort in handling objects.
