Position Overview

HongDe Elementary School is a unique bilingual institution that offers a Chinese (Mandarin) program, an English program, and a Fine Art program. Our students learn both languages during part of their school day, with 40% of the curriculum taught in Mandarin and 60% in English. Our mission is to provide programs that teach about traditional Chinese and western culture values, as well as to develop virtues and character traits essential for society.

We are seeking a qualified Physical Education and Dance teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching PHE and Dance classes to students in grades K-5, with a focus on progressive skill development. The ideal candidate will possess a current Certificate of Qualification from the BC Teacher Certification Branch and native or native-like fluency in both oral and written traditional Mandarin.

The successful candidate will also be expected to:

  • Promote a passion for health, wellness, physical activity, and sport
  • Bring a student-centered, inquiry-based, and collaborative approach to the delivery of the B.C. curriculum
  • Incorporate First Nations principles of learning throughout their practice
  • Use technology, including MS Teams for communication
  • Be prepared to endorse the school's mission and vision statement
  • Hold Canadian residency and be legally entitled to work in Canada
