Electrical Design Expert for Traffic Signal Infrastructure

At the City of Vancouver, we are seeking a skilled Electrical Designer to join our team in the Engineering Services department. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to contribute to the design and development of electrical infrastructure projects, including traffic signals and street lighting.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for traffic signal and street lighting designs on assigned projects, ensuring compliance with municipal standards and regulations.
  • To review and check internal electrical and traffic signal design projects, identifying areas for improvement and implementing quality control measures.
  • To resolve electrical design issues throughout the project lifecycle, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure timely completion.
  • To conduct quality audits and reviews of work developed by peers, designers, and drafters, promoting excellence in electrical engineering practices.
  • To provide estimates for the engineering budget and schedule, ensuring accurate cost projections and project timelines.
  • To coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure design services are provided within project deadlines.
  • To communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including customers, to ensure seamless collaboration and project success.

About the Role:

This is a Regular Full-Time position with a salary range of $97,032 - $121,294 per annum, based on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team working on a wide range of electrical infrastructure projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience, preferably in municipal electrical infrastructure design.
  • Accredited project management training and/or construction management experience would be an asset.
