About the RoleWe are currently recruiting for a full-time, Engineer-in-Training registered or eligible to be registered with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC), for our geotechnical engineering group on Vancouver Island (Courtenay office preferred). The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and complete projects in a large range of industries including residential and commercial construction, land development, public and private utilities, mining, forestry, and transportation.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the provision of engineering services from proposal stage through planning, fieldwork, and commissioning of projects.
- Provide accurate and pertinent geotechnical investigation data, analyses/modelling, designs, and reports according to agreed-upon methods, procedures, and techniques.
- Work under the mentorship of senior engineers within OEL and provide supervision and guidance to assigned junior staff.
- Perform site visits during design and construction phases (site investigation and field reviews).
- Provide responsive geotechnical advice to co-workers on a wide range of projects through collaboration in a multidisciplinary project team.
- Prepare project proposals.
- Registered or eligible for registration with EGBC as an engineer in training (geological or civil)
- Minimum 2 years of work experience
- Experienced in slope stability analysis, retaining wall designs, and geotechnical investigation (test pitting and drilling investigations) and design for land and resource development.
- Experience with geotechnical modelling software is considered an asset (preferably slope stability and/or pile assessment).
- Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work with the ability to complete occasional extended field trips is considered an asset (generally 2-3 days at a time and occasionally up to 2 weeks).
- Strong technical writing abilities.
The estimated salary for this role is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is also offered.
