About the Role

We are currently seeking a Clinical Psychologist to join our team at IWK Health. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and dedicated professional to contribute to the development and implementation of effective assessment and intervention strategies for children with autism spectrum disorder.

Key Responsibilities
  • To conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments of children suspected of having autism spectrum disorder.
  • To develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs and goals of each child and their family.
  • To collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide coordinated care and support to children and their families.
  • To engage in ongoing education and training to stay current on best practices and evidence-based interventions.

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual who is passionate about working with children and families affected by autism. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in clinical psychology and experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder.

Requirements
  • A doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (PhD/PsyD) from an accredited program.
  • A minimum of one year of full-time predoctoral residency in a relevant area (e.g., Clinical Child Psychology, Pediatric Health Psychology, Forensic Psychology).
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP).
  • Training and experience in the use of standard autism assessment instruments, specifically the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedules-2 (ADOS-2) and other related autism assessment and cognitive assessment instruments.
  • Theories and methods of psychological diagnosis, assessment, and intervention.
  • Specialized knowledge in development and psychopathology, biological bases of behaviour, personality theories, and interpersonal relationships.
