About the Role

We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as our Chief Executive Officer, driving the growth and development of amateur sports in British Columbia. As the CEO, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership for viaSport BC, working closely with the Board, government, and stakeholders to achieve our mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy Development and Execution
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to support the organization's growth and development, leveraging government investment and partnerships.
    • Collaborate with the provincial government and BC Sport Sector to advance goals and objectives within viaSport's Strategic Plan.
    • Provide leadership across sectors to align priorities, initiatives, and investment to drive increased participation in organized sport for all citizens of British Columbia.
  • Financial Growth and Development
    • Develop and lead a revenue diversification strategy to support the current and future strategic plans, solidifying organizational sustainability and diversifying revenue.
    • Leverage government funding priorities and partnerships to secure grant funding and charitable giving.
    • Develop strategies to increase the annual government investment in sport and promote practices that support revenue growth and sustainability.
  • Governance
    • Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partners through documented Memoranda of Understanding and contracts.
    • Support the Board with effective governance practices, risk management, collaboration, engagement, and committee structures.
    • Lead the development of best-in-class governance across BC sports organizations, offering support and guidance as required.
  • Leadership
    • Lead and oversee the organization in accordance with the strategic direction set by the Board.
    • Support an environment of collaboration, peer learning, and development between designated organizations within the ecosystem.
    • Ensure all operations and activities are conducted in accordance with the values and sound business practices and approved policies.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience
    • 10+ years of senior leadership experience with a working knowledge of the issues and challenges facing the BC sports sector.
    • Proven track record of developing enduring partnerships with government, private, and public sectors.
  • Skills and Competencies
    • Strategic thinking and leadership skills.
    • Experience in creating alignment across diverse stakeholders, breaking down silos, and building effective working relationships.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of new revenue generation and its impacts on operational activities and budgets.
    • Experience in brand development and growth strategies.

Education

A master's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent in education and experience.
