Sessional Instructor, Practical Nursing

Job Summary:
North Island College is seeking a qualified Sessional Instructor to teach in the Practical Nursing Diploma program. The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing students in one or more lab courses, implementing creative strategies in the preparation and delivery of lab activities, and using initiative in providing documentation and follow-up with regard to student concerns and problem resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare learning materials for instructional environments
- Teach in assigned subject areas and include all required subject matter or skill activity
- Direct student learning in a positive, supportive, and caring environment
- Be available to students regularly during scheduled office hours and classroom hours
- Clearly communicate in writing learning outcomes for programs and courses
- Design and conduct evaluations or appraisals of students
- Maintain records of student enrollment and achievement
Requirements:
- A current practising license as an LPN, NP, RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP)
- One of the following credentials in adult education from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Three to five years recent related practice experience
- Credential in Adult Education / equivalent or in progress from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Experience using a variety of creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning within a distributed teaching-learning environment
