Job Summary:

The Outreach Worker will provide critical support to high-risk children and youth who are vulnerable to sexual exploitation. This role requires a strong understanding of the issues affecting Sexually Exploited Children and Youth (SECY) and the ability to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with law enforcement, child welfare agencies, and other key stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and support.
  • Engage with high-risk youth in their placements and at high-risk locations to provide advocacy, information, and referral services.
  • Provide education and training to child welfare workers and parents on specialized services for sexually exploited children and youth.
  • Respond to requests to locate and return children and youth on the High Risk Victims (HRV) list, working closely with the RCMP and other community members as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation and statistics, identifying and reporting predators and locations of exploitation.
  • Work independently and as part of a diverse team to provide outreach services and support to high-risk youth.

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in social services, child and youth care, or a related field, with a minimum of three to four years' experience in front-line work, including outreach services.
  • Strong understanding of the Child and Family Services Act and knowledge of provisions in the CFS Act and Criminal Code of Canada related to prostitution, sexual assault, and child abuse offenses.
  • Knowledge of child sexual exploitation, addiction issues, and other relevant health, justice, and social issues affecting Indigenous children and youth.
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills, with the ability to maintain reports and client files.
  • Valid 5F Driver's License and Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C certification.

Working Conditions:

  • Must have excellent physical and emotional health.
  • Must have a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry, and acceptable Prior Contact checks.
