About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technician in Charge to join our team at First Student in Georgetown, ON. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for managing all location maintenance operations and providing shop staff oversight. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading transportation company that prioritizes safety and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Schedule and administer fleet maintenance, troubleshoot problems with equipment, and communicate availability of vehicles for service with dispatch and other operations personnel.
• Supervise shop staff, including hiring, training, and performance management. Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with the location manager and region maintenance management to provide status of maintenance and budget requirements. Review financial and budget variances, repair orders, and account payable documents.
• Initiate and implement projects that improve efficiency and reduce operating costs. Ensure that maintenance technicians are trained on current operating procedures and are properly equipped to perform their duties.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
• 5+ years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience, with a valid driver's license and required endorsements.
• Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Computer skills and industry experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and school bus equipment are preferred.
