Environmental Director Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Director to join our Operational Support team at Pomerleau Construction. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supervising environmental specialists and ensuring compliance with project environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary environmental contact for the team, clients, and authorities.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with project environmental requirements, including coordination with the project management team and customers.
  • Develop and implement environmental plans related to various aspects, such as fauna, flora, water, and more.
  • Communicate significant environmental risks to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the project manager to allocate necessary environmental resources.
  • Obtain and track required environmental permits.
  • Implement and certify an Environmental Management System (EMS) compliant with ISO 14001:2015.
  • Supervise the environmental team, coordinate monitoring, and prepare reports required for project compliance and recognition.
Requirements:
  • University degree in environment, biology, ecology, geography, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 15 years of experience in environmental management and EMS development and implementation, including major projects in Canada.
  • Experience in team coordination and supervision.
  • Excellent knowledge of environmental regulatory frameworks, particularly in the context of major waterworks.
  • Good command of environmental issues and impacts facing the construction industry.
  • Fluency in both official languages (English and French).

  • Good knowledge of contaminated soil management.
  • Envision Specialist designation.
  • LEED certification.
  • ISO 14001 lead auditor.
  • ASP construction card.
