We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Risk Analyst to join our Model Validation & Analytics team at Sun Life. As a key member of this team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our mathematical models.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct independent validations of existing and new models used by Sun Life, ensuring compliance with our Model Risk Policy and regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential risks embedded in model design and usage, and develop alternative or benchmark models as necessary for independent assessment.
- Communicate model validation results to senior stakeholders and model owners, and prepare a comprehensive Model Validation report detailing the validation scope, testing approach, test results, findings, and conclusions.
- Support the Director in optimizing team operations, including identifying and implementing improvements to work processes and systems to ensure operational effectiveness and compliance with corporate policy and governance requirements.
- Provide advisory support to large-scale projects, such as Economics Scenario Generators (ESG) modeling and economic capital modeling, to ensure that our models are in line with industry best practice.
- Strong knowledge in a quantitative discipline, with a minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience.
- A master's degree or higher in a quantitative field, such as mathematics, statistics, or mathematical finance.
- Demonstrated expertise in risk measures, calibration, and simulation of financial variables, as well as basic derivative valuation theory and statistical analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages, including VBA, Python, MATLAB, R, or C/C++.
- Prior modeling or validation experience is an asset, as is combined financial and insurance risk experience.
