Senior Electrical Designer Job Description

At Hatch, we are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Designer to join our team. If you have a passion for electrical design and a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects, we want to hear from you.

Job Summary:

  • Lead a team of electrical designers in delivering complex electrical design projects.
  • Supervise and mentor junior designers to ensure they have the skills and knowledge required to excel in their roles.
  • Develop and implement electrical design standards and procedures to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure that electrical designs meet the needs of the overall project.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain electrical design standards and procedures.
  • Lead electrical design teams to deliver complex projects.
  • Supervise and mentor junior designers.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets.
  • Develop and implement electrical design concepts.
  • Prepare and present design concepts to clients.
  • Coordinate electrical design activities with other disciplines.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on electrical designs.

Requirements:

  • Electrical engineering diploma from a recognized college.
  • Minimum of five years electrical design experience.
  • Experience in a large-project environment.
  • Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations, and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the project.
  • Understanding of other discipline requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of designing electrical systems and workflows for electrical systems.
  • Proficient in the use of MicroStation or AutoCAD, MicroStation PSDS and/or OpenPlant.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist or looking to attain certification.
  • Experience with Bentley BRCM.
  • Experience within a large project, multidisciplinary EPCM environment.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Strong client focus.
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising designers.
  • Ability to delegate tasks and promote the effective performance of team members.
