FortisBC is seeking a skilled Financial Accounting Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting financial data to ensure compliance with GAAP and BCUC orders/directives.
Key Responsibilities- Perform financial analyses of complicated accounting activities, including unbilled revenue and consumption, gas purchases and mitigation, and natural gas transportation reports.
- Prepare reports for presentation to external auditors, BCUC, and internal stakeholders, ensuring integrity of financial reporting.
- Examine and control monthly general ledger balances and journal entries, performing analysis through financial tests for reasonableness.
- Develop and maintain reports and schedules for internal stakeholders, BCUC, external auditors, and others to facilitate analysis and decision making.
- Research and analyze the impact of various accounting treatment options on FortisBC's financials, making recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Completion of a degree from a recognized accredited institution.
- Completion of a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA).
- Three (3) years' experience in accounting at a senior level with strong emphasis on financial analysis and in-depth understanding of accounting theory (GAAP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills – manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of ERP accounting systems (preferably SAP).
- Intermediate knowledge of computer systems and related programs, including Excel.
- Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to respond to and resolve demanding problems.
