Job Title: Senior IT Application Specialist

Viterra Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Application Specialist to join our team in Regina. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for developing software application solutions and participating in the selection, adoption, and adaptation of appropriate software design methods, tools, and techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical responsibility across all stages and levels of software development, from planning to execution.
  • Selecting, adopting, and adapting appropriate software design methods, tools, and techniques.
  • Leading the analysis and development of major design projects and solution architecture.
  • Developing implementation plans for complex requests for changes to an application.
  • Coordinating and managing planning of the system and/or acceptance tests.
  • Maintaining client relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Providing expertise and guidance to Junior Developers on the configuration of software, testing, and development of applications.
  • Maintaining application support processes and ensuring all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information systems used as well as application programming, database, and system design.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and facilitation skills, with the ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong team player with proven ability to assist in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external customers in a diverse industry.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledgeable in full-stack web application development (Java, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Education and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of seven (7) years related business and/or systems experience.
  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in Java development.
  • Experience with Java, JavaScript, CSS, Bootstrap, Oracle PL/SQL, and Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP).
