Diagnostic Sonographer

About the Role:
The University of Alberta Hospital is a leading healthcare institution that provides comprehensive medical services to the community. As a Diagnostic Sonographer, you will be working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, utilizing your skills to perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examination, review patient history, and explain procedures
- Obtain ultrasound images of diagnostic quality and take initial action to resolve abnormal findings
- Assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention, and patient management, ensuring a high level of patient care and safety
- Collaborate with Radiologists, Cardiologists, Perinatologists, and other medical staff with special procedures
Requirements:
- Completion of an extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program
- Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Acute care scanning experience in both adult and pediatric patient populations
- It's Your Move training in safe patient handling, sonography ergonomics, Impax, and connect care experience
- Registration with Sonography Canada in Vascular or American registry of RVT
