We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our team at Teranorth Construction & Engineering Limited. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction projects are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare layouts and designs in accordance with building codes and regulations, using measuring tools and equipment.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials to create structures and fixtures.
- Prepare tenders and quotations for clients, taking into account factors such as materials, labor, and timelines.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems to create safe and secure structures.
- Fabricate and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to complete the construction process.
- Schedule and coordinate work on sites, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Survey building locations and levels to ensure that structures are built to the correct specifications.
- Instruct and supervise apprentices and other workers to ensure that they are working safely and efficiently.
- Estimate costs and materials for projects, taking into account factors such as labor, materials, and timelines.
- Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
- Bending, crouching, and kneeling are required to perform tasks such as measuring and cutting materials.
- A combination of sitting, standing, and walking is necessary to complete tasks such as surveying and instructing.
- Handling heavy loads is required to move materials and equipment around the construction site.
- A large workload and tight deadlines are common in this role, requiring strong time management and organizational skills.
- Physically demanding tasks such as lifting and carrying heavy materials are a regular part of this job.
- 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in a related field, such as carpentry or construction.
- Accurate and reliable with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and apprentices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals.
- Fluency in English is required, as well as the ability to read and write in English.
