Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network and Systems Specialist to join our team at the Delta Police Department. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for assessing, supporting, and improving our existing network and systems infrastructure, as well as leading the planning and deployment of new network technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network and Systems Administration: Configure and maintain communications networks, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Network Monitoring and Analysis: Implement system and network monitoring and analysis tools to evaluate and improve network performance.
  • Network Design and Implementation: Design changes to network, storage, and communications systems in response to changing requirements and the availability of new technologies.
  • Technical Project Leadership: Lead technical projects from requirements gathering through to design, deployment, test, production support, and system upgrades.
  • System Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and maintain systems, including Windows Servers, Linux Servers, Web servers, Databases, Active Directory, Backup and Restore, and System monitoring.
  • Network and Data Security: Assist in maintaining Network and Data Security.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to junior team members and Co-Op students.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Interact with external consultants, contractors, and peers as required.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • Experience: 7+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Certifications: CCNA or CompTIA Network+ certification, CISSP, CISM, and familiarity with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) framework.
  • Skills: Excellent understanding of communications protocols, network firewalls, routers, and switches, network security practices and techniques, network access control, and network quality of service evaluation and improvement.
