Key Responsibilities:- Discuss upholstery fabric, colour and style with customers to ensure their needs are met.
- Provide cost estimates for upholstering furniture or other items, taking into account materials and labour costs.
- Replace worn-out webbing, springs and other furniture parts to ensure the item is safe and functional.
- Lay out, cut, fabricate and install upholstery, using a variety of materials and techniques.
- Tack, glue or sew ornamental trim, braids or buttons to add a finishing touch to the item.
- Repair furniture frames and refinish wood surfaces to restore the item to its original condition.
- Operate sewing machines or sew by hand to create high-quality upholstery.
- Garnish the bottom and the back of a seat with interwoven rattan to add a decorative touch.
- Attention to detail is essential to ensure high-quality work.
- Hand-eye co-ordination is necessary to operate sewing machines and perform other tasks.
- Work Term: Permanent
