Key Responsibilities

As a Senior API Developer, you will:

  1. Ensure all APIs developed adhere to our enterprise API standards governing data access, security, frameworks, and patterns.
  2. Partner with our Enterprise Cloud Engineering & DevSecOps teams to adhere to our enterprise standards.
  3. Support building APIs and backend functionality required to service requests.
  4. Collaborate with our QA team to define the test approach and implement structured testing that ensures functionality.
  5. Work with our platform teams to define a low-touch deployment approach for APIs.
  6. Monitor APIs for uptime and availability within our Observability & Monitoring platform.

You will be working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business needs.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Proven skills and certifications in JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, and experience with designing scalable, secure, and reliable distributed services.
  • A basic understanding of React and ReactNative, and how applications designed using these frameworks ingest APIs.
  • Leadership skills to coach and mentor junior team members.
  • Experience with creating automated API tests using tools like ReadyAPI or Postman.
  • A commitment to learning and applying Aritzia's Business and People Leadership principles.
