Crane Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Crane Technician to join our team at Hercules SLR. As a Crane Technician, you will be responsible for performing inspections and testing on various hoists and cranes to ensure safety certification in accordance with provincial and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform inspections on overhead electric cranes and their components
  • Diagnose equipment problems and estimate costs of equipment repairs, replacements, and maintenance
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on overhead electric cranes and their components
  • Complete reports on inspected items accurately and submit to administration for processing
  • Maintain paperwork and records of used inventory for billing and certification purposes
  • Pick up and deliver products to customers as required in company truck
  • Assist in the development of efficient and effective work methods consistent with company policies and procedures
  • Provide input to customer quotes
  • Complete cycle counts of inventory on a periodic basis, as required
  • Perform general labor and/or maintenance work
  • Comply with company quality and safety procedures for completing work
  • Follow customer safety and quality rules when working at a customer's site
  • Maintain company equipment used on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
  • Some travel, possible work evenings and weekends as required
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Millwright or Electrical apprentice
  • Recognized trade qualification as a journeyman Millwright or Electrician considered an asset
  • Experience performing maintenance and troubleshooting overhead electric cranes considered an asset
  • Experience with working at heights, Lifting Gear Inspection, Wire Rope Examiner, and ASME/OSHA rigging fundamentals and requirements considered an asset
  • Knowledge of electricity and hydraulics, capable of troubleshooting for general maintenance
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be insurable
  • Must safely lift 50 lbs. from floor level to waist level
  • Establishes work priorities, ensures deadlines are met, and procedures are followed
  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Communicates with customers in a professional manner
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Please note: Successful candidates must provide a driver's abstract with driving records from the Department of Motor Vehicles showing less than 6 demerit points loss in the last 3 years and no criminal infraction on traffic laws and no responsible accidents other than the ones on file
