">Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Safety Specialist to join our team at Southlake Regional Health Centre. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with leaders and their teams to support and improve patient safety through guidance, support, subject matter expertise, and education.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze current and future workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
  2. Design, develop, test, and implement change ideas aligned with the organization's priorities.
  3. Collaborate with clinical programs to implement recommendations that improve patient and staff safety.
  4. Develop and implement quality improvement plans, monitoring quality indicators and reporting progress.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of quality improvement methodologies, including QI tools (e.g., process mapping/flow diagrams, cause and effect diagrams). They should also have expertise in patient safety principles and standards, as well as proficiency in interpretation of clinical documentation.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Engineering, or current registration with a health professional regulatory body.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in healthcare.
  • Expertise in Quality Improvement and/or Patient Safety.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of incident management reporting systems (rL Datix) is an asset. They should be able to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating excellent proficiency in Visio.
