**Job Overview**

Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) is a national Inuit organization that promotes the well-being and self-determination of Inuit in Canada. We are seeking a skilled Senior Data Analyst to join our team.

**Salary:** $60,000 - $80,000 per year

**Job Description**

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to provide high-quality data analysis and reporting services to support ITK's advocacy work. The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative, research, and data analysis skills, with experience working with planning, preparing, and disseminating data-based reports, briefings, and other products.

The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Gathering, organizing, and coordinating data and information as identified by ITK Executive, Managers, and Director;
  • Providing context on methodologies used to collect data and assessments of data quality;
  • Providing relevant statistics, reports, and data support to ITK staff and compiling and synthesizing statistical information into meaningful and concise information for different projects;
  • Conducting internal and external consultations to ensure data needs for the organization are met;
  • Developing plain language and technical data-related communications materials, as well as summarizing statistical results of research and other projects for a variety of audiences, including ITK's Inuit Statistical Profile;
  • Keeping abreast of relevant Inuit-specific statistics and data-based reports produced by federal departments, academic institutions, and others;
  • Working with federal departments and other organizations on Inuit data-related projects to ensure that the principles of Inuit self-determination in data activities are respected and that data products are culturally appropriate and relevant;
  • Providing support to the Inuit Health Survey as required on tasks including but not limited to the development of survey systems, assisting with implementation of data-analysis related training;
  • Assessing the statistical capacity needs of ITK and other Inuit organizations and working with partners to develop capacity;
  • Performing reviews of research proposals, analyses, results, and reports prepared by outside organizations and institutions;
  • Assisting with the development and review of funding proposals;
  • Working with federal departments to develop data-related partnerships that respect the principles of Inuit-determined data sovereignty outlined in the National Inuit Strategy on Research;

**Required Skills and Qualifications**

  • Strong quantitative, research, and data analysis skills;
  • Experience with planning, preparing, and disseminating data-based reports, briefings, and other products;
  • Ability to think critically, including problem solving, research evaluation, and analysis;
  • Good attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently and in a group setting with diverse partners and stakeholders;
  • Excellent cross-cultural skills and the ability to deal with diverse opinions;
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, primarily in English; Inuktitut and/or French an asset;
  • Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet manipulation, and presentation software;
  • Statistical software knowledge (SAS, SPSS, Stata) an asset;
  • Ability to understand and interpret policy, legislation, and regulation;
  • Ability and willingness to travel;
  • Sensitivity to and awareness of local, political, and cultural issues.
