Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Technician to join our team at First Student. As an Apprentice Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and reliability of our fleet of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on our fleet of vehicles, adhering to established practices and standards.
  • Conduct brake, safety, and emissions inspections in accordance with Ministry and company regulations.
  • Provide troubleshooting advice to vehicle operators and perform emergency road breakdown repairs.
  • Inspect and repair wheelchair ramps, hoisting devices, and other safety equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Assist in the maintenance of buildings and property, including repairs and upkeep.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and supplies consumed.
  • Ensure vehicle operators have access to necessary supplies, such as fuel, oil, and other fluids.
  • Participate in inclement weather to ensure the fleet is ready for service.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to WHMIS requirements and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and occupational safety and health regulations.
Requirements
  • College education and enrollment in an approved apprenticeship program.
  • Valid driver's license (Class G).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
