Machinist Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team at CP. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of machine tools, including CNC tools, to perform precision machining operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine machining operations and plan the best sequence of operations.
  • Set up and operate machine tools, including CNC tools, to perform precision machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, and drilling.
  • Verify the dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Report any deviations from specifications and tolerances to the supervisor.
  • Complete and maintain inspection reports.

Requirements

  • An Inter-Provincial Red Seal in the trade of Machinist is required.
  • Strong problem-solving and computer skills are essential.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work within strict established safety and work guidelines/rules to complete the job.
  • CPKC operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; the successful candidate must be able to work on various shifts and days off.
