Speech Language Pathologist Opportunity

PLEA Community Services is seeking a Casual On-Call Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will carry out assessment and consultation services for participants with speech and communication impairment disorders related to suspected neurodevelopmental disabilities.
The selected candidate must be available for a minimum of one 7-hour weekday shift per week. Assigned shifts will be up to 7 hours in length.
You will screen, test, assess, and diagnose participants with speech and communication impairment disorders. You will also provide speech training for participants with communication disorders caused by cerebral palsy, surgical removal of the larynx, hearing deficiencies, neurodevelopmental disabilities, or other impairments.
Apart from providing remedial treatment, you will plan individual or group therapy for participants with communication disorders. You will also counsel and guide participants with communication and speech disorders and their families, teachers, or employers.
- Observing participants and administering tests to diagnose the nature of the disorder and evaluate the degree of impairment
- Identifying, assessing, planning, and conducting remedial treatment to correct differing speech and communication impairment disorders
- Providing guidance to other team members on the multidisciplinary assessment team to carry out remedial programs to diagnose and treat participants with speech and communication disorders
To succeed in this role, you should have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting and effective relationships with participants, agency staff, professionals, family caregivers, and families. You should also possess excellent conflict management and problem-solving skills.
