Custodian Position

The Avon Maitland District School Board is seeking a Casual Custodian to support our Elementary (K-8) and/or Secondary schools located in Huron and Perth counties. As a Custodian, you will play a vital role in maintaining the daily operations and maintenance of our schools.
Key Responsibilities:- Building Maintenance: Perform tasks such as changing lights, shoveling snow, cleaning and inspecting roofs, operating grass cutting equipment, performing minor repairs, conducting health and safety checks, and servicing roof top units.
- Building Cleaning: Operate and maintain all equipment, and perform all minor and major cleaning tasks.
- Minimum grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in one or more of the trade disciplines (e.g. plumbing, electrical, carpentry)
- Exemplary interpersonal, professional, and organizational skills
- Ability to use a computer (e.g. Google Suite, Smart Find, etc.)
- Experience in handling machinery (e.g. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snow blowers)
- Knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies
This is a casual position, working on a call-in basis, Monday to Friday (typically afternoon shift), with summer hours (July and August) transitioning to a day shift. The daily rate is $22.09 per hour, plus vacation pay.
