Contract Desktop Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced IT professional to fill the role of Contract Desktop Support Specialist at Lumentum Canada.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring key IT systems, hardware, services, and processes are available and functioning properly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively monitor and evaluate the performance of key systems and processes to ensure continued business operations.
- Provide desktop and network support for local office users and visitors.
- Install and maintain server and storage hardware.
- Coordinate and communicate with leadership on proposed or implemented resolutions and changes.
- Meet organizational SLA metrics.
- Collaborate with other IT and business teams on projects.
Technical Requirements:
- Advanced Windows Desktop expertise is a must.
- Experience in supporting Windows Server (2008R2, 2012R2) environments is a requirement.
- Experience in supporting Linux (RedHat/CentOS) environments is preferred.
- Understanding of hypervisor technologies (VMware) and infrastructure services (SMTP, FTP, SFTP, ssh, DNS, DHCP) is preferred.
- Automation experience and knowledge of backup and restore technologies are also desirable.
Soft Skills:
- Strong language command of English is a must.
- Excellent oral/written abilities, mental flexibility, and customer service skills are essential.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, are required.
- Ability to work on call rotation, including nights and weekend on-call support.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of professional IT experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Estimated Salary:$60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
