Westlake Paving & Aggregates, a division of Lafarge Canada Inc., is seeking an experienced Loader/Crusher Operator to join our Portable Aggregate Division. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of heavy equipment operations, including loaders and crushers, and will be responsible for efficiently loading and managing materials for processing and transportation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate loaders and crushers to process and transport materials
  • Ensure equipment is in proper working condition before each shift
  • Perform excavation and digging tasks as required
  • Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Work in a team environment to meet project timelines
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and management
  • Perform physical labor without health or physical concerns
  • Demonstrate mathematical abilities to accurately measure and plan job site construction
  • Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Work in outdoor construction site settings
  • Ensure all environmental work practices have been implemented and concerns are addressed

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Previous experience working in mining projects
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkers
  • Previous experience operating loaders and crushers is required
  • Operate medium size to small size excavators, front end loaders and skid steer loaders
  • Support subcontractors on site such as crane and rigging operations
  • Work under pressure, near live traffic, around ground personnel and other equipment
  • Must understand and meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies
  • Willing to work flexible hours, night shifts, weekends and multiple projects
  • Understand outdoor settings: inclement weather, heat/ humidity; exposure to dust/ smoke
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Train new crew members in safety precautions for excavators and other machines
  • Report progress needs or other pertinent information to site managers

Compensation

  • $32.00 per hour, depending on experience

A pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, may be required.
