Accounting Professional

Imperial Theatre is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage and maintain financial records and ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain financial records - Maintain detailed and accurate financial records for the organization including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports - Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. They will provide these reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on a regular basis.
- Process payments and invoices - Process payments and invoices, ensuring that all expenses and income are properly recorded and coded.
- Manage payroll - Manage the organization's payroll, ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Reconcile bank statements - Responsible for reconciling monthly bank statements and ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded.
- Assist with budgeting - Assist the Executive Director and Board of Directors in creating and maintaining the organization's annual budget.
- Coordinate with auditors - Work closely with external auditors to ensure that all financial records are accurate and up to date for the annual audit.
- Maintain compliance - Ensure that all financial records and procedures are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations including charitable receipting, taxation remittances etc.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Record day to day financial transactions
- Verify and record transactions
- Ordering of office supplies, inventory reconciliation, and petty cash
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial and employee information
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions
- Stay up-to-date with accounting principles and regulations
- Assist with year-end audits and tax preparation
- Provide support to management and assist with other tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Proven work experience as a Bookkeeper or role in financial services
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles
- Experience with QuickBooks accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Time-management and multi-tasking abilities
- A team player with a sense of humour and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a face-paced environment
- Proficiency in English
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- A healthy appreciation of the performing arts is an asset
