About the Role:
We're looking for a seasoned software engineer with expertise in network systems software development. As a Senior Network Systems Software Engineer, you will collaborate with customers, product management, and hardware engineers to design and build innovative features that enhance Arista hardware performance and efficiency. You will write software that controls various hardware components, including temperature sensors, fan controllers, power controllers, storage devices, FPGAs, NICs, and PCIe switches.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop novel features for network systems software.
- Collaborate with customers, product management, and hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components.
- Develop and maintain software using C, C++, and Python.
- Build automated tests and test infrastructure to ensure feature stability and performance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers to ensure knowledge transfer and growth.
- Work with Customer Support Engineers and customers to analyze and resolve issues in customer networks.
- Collaborate with System Test Engineers to identify and fix problems in system tests.
Requirements:
- BS Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering + 8 years experience, or MS Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering + 6 years experience, or Ph.D. in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering + 3 years experience, or equivalent work experience.
- Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
- Knowledge of UNIX or Linux.
- Hands-on experience in the design and development of hardware device drivers and/or system management utilities.
- Understanding of IP networking and/or distributed systems is a plus.
- Experience working with low-level hardware components is a plus.
- Applied understanding of software engineering principles.
- Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to design a solution and implement features independently.
