About the Role

CarePartners is seeking a skilled Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence (NSWOC) to join our team. As a NSWOC, you will provide wound and ostomy consultation for patients in the clinic and community.

This is a part-time position in the Niagara Falls area, offering flexibility in your schedule. You will work with a variety of clients, each with unique wound etiologies and care needs. Your expertise in wound and ostomy care will be sought out by individual practitioners and organizations guiding wound care in the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide wound and ostomy consultation for patients in the clinic and community
  • Use your knowledge of assessment, prevention, and interventions regarding wound infections and ostomy care
  • Care for patients with consuming wounds, ostomy, continence, and provide lower leg assessment including ABPIs
  • Critically appraise the wound care literature and apply research evidence to practice
  • Provide classifications and indications, appropriate utilization to reduce visit frequency and obtain desired outcomes
  • Practice conservative sharp wound debridement (CSWD) and use of other debridement methods
  • Provide edema management including bandaging based on complete lower leg assessment
  • Monitor criteria for adjunctive therapy for complex or recalcitrant wounds
  • Support patient safety by practicing according to policy and standards
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RN) diploma
  • Current College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) registration in good standing
  • Graduate of Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada (NSWOCC, formerly CAET), CNA exam may be pending
  • Several years of escalating experience managing wounds and ostomies
  • Strong desire and commitment to making a difference in the lives of our patients
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • CPR Certification
  • Current immunization record including 2 step TB test
  • Vulnerable sector check and clear background check
