About the Role:

The Chief Technology Officer will be responsible for leading the technological environment at Stonewood Group Inc., a successful Canadian B to C internet pioneer. The successful candidate will cultivate an environment that attracts, deploys, and retains the human and other resources required to effectively develop, deliver, and support the company's platform while meeting the business strategy and goals for profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to overall company vision and strategies, working with senior team members to deliver and support the company's platform roadmap consistent with the company's overall strategic plans for corporate growth.
  • Develop and document corporate plans and systems for new application development, ensuring reliable, robust applications are developed on-time and within cost targets using accepted state-of-the-art methodologies.
  • Manage the overall engineering budget, auditing and enhancing existing platforms, and recommending and implementing new scalable development platforms and processes.
  • Maintain awareness of trends and conditions in technology, platform, and development tools, establishing key indicators for competitive performance in completion of development projects.
  • Build strong relationships with other areas of the company, key suppliers, and technical partners, fostering an environment that enables highly technical staff to perform with excellence.
  • Establish and maintain succession plans for all positions within the engineering organization, evaluating third-party technologies, and participating in due diligence processes.
  • Provide ongoing direction, performance management, and developmental support to the team, ensuring operational milestones are met on time and within cost objectives.
  • Report regularly to the board of directors on results and plans, adapting business models to capitalize on evolving customer needs, and implementing and refining a product roadmap that incorporates customer feedback.

  • Enterprise software experience required; platform development experience preferred.
  • Experience outside of large, bureaucratic organizations.
  • Experience scaling development organizations.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to anticipate problems.
  • Highly ethical and self-effacing.
