Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team in Dartmouth, NS. This is a permanent position that will play a crucial role in supporting our research and development activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and be able to operate and maintain GC-MS instruments to analyze organic compounds.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process samples for GC-MS analysis.
- Operate and maintain GC-MS instruments to analyze organic compounds.
- Provide general lab support, including washing glassware, cleaning workstations, and waste disposal.
- Calibrate, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot intermediate instruments.
- Compile, verify, and validate accurate data records.
- Meet quality assurance and turn-around specifications.
- Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Interpret and report analytical data.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and quality control standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with GC-MS.
- Strong understanding of organic chemistry principles.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to assist in the development and optimization of analytical methods.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Preferred qualifications: experience in method development and validation, familiarity with other analytical techniques, and knowledge of laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
