Job Title: Special Education Technician

Commission Scolaire Central Quebec / Central Quebec School Board is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Technician to join our team.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to provide targeted support for students with special needs. As a Special Education Technician, you will work closely with the teaching team, families, and external resources to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement personalized intervention plans for students with special needs.
  • Provide direct academic support, particularly in basic skills, lessons, and homework.
  • Contribute to the creation of a stimulating and open environment conducive to learning.
  • Develop and lead diversified activities to reinforce student competencies.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to the teaching team.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to supporting students in their adaptation and behavioral management.
  • Provide information on social issues and refer students and their families to specialized resources as needed.
  • Manage the supervision of students requiring specific follow-up after sanctions and organize their school reintegration.
  • Ensure the safety and support of students requiring special attention during school transportation.
  • Document observations and interventions, keep student files up to date, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Manage the administration of medication according to medical and school guidelines.
  • Guide and train new team members and supervise support staff tasks related to technical operations.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a strong passion for supporting students with special needs. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of special education methods and strategies, as well as experience working with students with diverse needs.
