UNIX Systems Specialist

The UNIX Analyst plays a pivotal role in the development, implementation, and administration of information technology (IT) projects or operational work. This position requires a diverse IT expertise and experience with the Unix family of operating systems to develop and support hosting solutions for ministry line of business applications.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with clients to determine priorities and requirements, and respond to priority changes as needed.
- Participate in testing, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Monitor and maintain the underlying technology (servers, appliances, and applications) supported by the team.
- Identify risks or issues and proactively update and upgrade the services supported by the team.
- Recommend changes or enhancements for applicable information technology services/products.
- Understand, interpret, transfer, translate, and resolve customer, system, application, and procedure requirements or problems relating to various products and services, resulting in improved process functionality.
- Work with Team Leads to build and design forms and workflows to fit Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Standards.
- Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve issues identified through network and other activities monitoring and logs analysis.
- Strong communication skills to explain IT concepts, consult with stakeholders, and guide those with varying degrees of systems understanding.
- Initiative and creativity in identifying and implementing new technologies and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills.
- The ability to work well in a team environment, lead and mentor junior employees, and work within deadline constraints.
