Job Title: Legal Counsel, Commercial Law

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Woodfibre LNG. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and support to our business operations.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in commercial and natural resource law, with a focus on regulatory matters, environmental compliance, and contract negotiation. You will be responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on a wide range of issues, including:

  • Regulatory matters at the federal, provincial, municipal, and First Nations levels
  • Environmental and regulatory compliance
  • Procurement, including local and Indigenous procurement
  • Contract negotiation, drafting, review, processing, and management

You will work closely with our business teams to develop practical and risk-balanced solutions to complex legal and commercial issues. Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with your ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, will be essential in this role.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Canadian law degree and current membership in the Law Society of British Columbia or Alberta
  • At least 7+ years' experience in commercial and natural resource related law in British Columbia or Alberta
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong understanding of regulatory matters, environmental compliance, and contract negotiation
