Interior Design Professional with Workplace Strategy Expertise

This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills as an Intermediate Project Designer, working closely with our design team on various projects. You will learn and apply Bennett Design's interior design project processes, including Pure DesignTM, which demands high levels of detail and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to delivering team project goals by mastering the Discover, Plan, and Implement phases of the Project Plan methodology and developing familiarity with the Monitor and Close phases.
  • Participate in site verifications and assist with working drawings and drawing markups.
  • Ensure AutoCAD drawings are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with the project team on initial concept development.
  • Assist with sourcing and ordering materials, finishes, and meeting with vendors.
  • Contribute to preparing renderings, initial, and final plans.

Contract Management:

  • Support project work according to the Project Plan and prepare change notices and instructions.
  • Review shop drawings, deficiencies, and reporting, and coordinate with subcontractors.
  • Participate in photo shoots.

Quality Assurance:

  • Develop expertise in Building Code compliance and its application to various projects.
  • Confidently interpret regulations, procedures, plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Familiarize yourself with principles of Risk Management related to managing design projects.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Interior Design from a recognized accredited College or University.
  • Candidate must be studying for or has the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ).
  • Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) membership (if applicable).
  • Familiarity with building code requirements, laws, standards, and regulations, and ability to interpret and apply.
  • Familiarity with the interior design process from Discovery to Project Close Out phases.
  • Familiarity with products and materials and their use and application for project work.
  • Familiarity with building systems.
  • Ability to incorporate a workplace strategy approach to projects.
  • Understanding of principles of project budgeting and scheduling.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to client sites for site visits, measures, and deficiency walk-throughs, covering Ontario and Canada.

Experience: 0-10 years in interior design.

Competencies:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or SketchUp/Vray, Microsoft Office applications.
  • Accountable to deadlines and deliverables.

This role offers a competitive salary of approximately $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience, and excellent growth opportunities within our dynamic team.
