Taxation Specialist

Buckberger Baerg & Partners LLP is seeking a highly skilled Chartered Professional Accountant - Tax to join our team. As a key member of our tax department, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional client services and contributing to the growth and development of our staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide taxation advisory and related advisory services to public and private clients across various industry sectors.
- Plan and execute engagements related to compliance-focused work, including corporate reorganization and planning.
- Ensure timely completion of tax compliance requirements, including federal, provincial, and foreign filings.
- Communicate with tax authorities and agencies, and assist with client audits and follow-up on audit results.
- Participate in estate planning for clients, including wills, insurance, trusts, and other related matters.
- Support the tax technician group in training, review, and supervision of tax technician duties.
- Draft tax returns, review and submit to managers and partners, and report on matters that may affect the outcome of engagements.
- Stay current with tax practices by reading and reviewing the Income Tax Act and other relevant tax materials.
- Consult with clients to obtain required information, gather and organize materials, and conduct research to prepare papers for consideration and/or presentation.
- Create and implement engagement plans, ensuring timely completion of budgets and procedures.
- Act as a line manager for CPA students, reviewing their work and providing guidance and support.
- Review tax working papers, prepare working papers, and provide weekly updates on project progress and billing processing.
- Prepare complex personal and corporate income tax returns, review returns, and provide business and tax advice to clients.
- Assist clients with wealth management, financial advice, tax audits, and property investment.
- Take initiative to expand and update professional knowledge and skills to enhance individual and team innovation and productivity.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree/certificate in business or management.
- CPA designation, with a demonstrated commitment to tax, including ongoing participation in Tax Group meetings.
- Completed or intention to register for/continue in the In-Depth Tax Course.
- Knowledge of MS Office and accounting software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Self-motivated and conscientious, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
