Our Business Tax group is focused on advising public and private multinational enterprises. Our professionals focus on our clients' business and industry issues, collaborate on cross-functional teams to mitigate risk and optimize the core tax functions of our clients. The Business Tax Financial Services practice serves a range of clients including asset management, capital markets, financial institutions, specialty finance and insurance clients.

RSM Canada is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join the expanding Financial Services practice. This role provides an opportunity to join a high-performing, high-growth tax practice while working with complex clients in one or more of the following sectors: Asset Management, Financial Institutions, Insurance, Specialty Finance and Brokerage and Trading.

As a Senior Tax Manager for RSM, you will be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Technical & Quality Expertise: Provide detailed review and analysis of tax returns, assist the assurance team with tax provision reviews, and prepare and review tax provision working papers for non-assurance clients.
  • People & Talent Management: Serve as a Career Advisor, mentor or coach to one or more employees, train and develop staff members, and participate in recruitment of junior level staff.
  • Client Service/Business Development: Advise clients on a full spectrum of corporate tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and tax accounting, and assist with new business development, extended service and tax issue recognition for existing clients.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree – preferably in Accounting or related field of study.
  • CPA Designation.
  • Working towards or completion of Masters of Tax or CPA In-depth Tax Program.
  • 8+ years of experience in Public Accounting preferably in a tax focused role.
  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act and technical aspects of tax compliance and accounting.
  • Strong technical skills in tax preparation, developing tax focus areas.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
