Job Title: Manager, Legal & Business Affairs - Production

Blue Ant Media is a leading international production studio and rights business, and channel operator. We are seeking a highly skilled Manager, Legal & Business Affairs - Production to join our team in Toronto.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with our production teams, drafting and negotiating agreements, and assisting with all legal and business affairs matters on Blue Ant's productions. This is a fast-paced environment where every day brings new tasks and duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating production legal agreements, including above-the-line talent agreements, shopping agreements, collaboration agreements, and production releases and agreements.
  • Administering guild agreements and adherences with both Canadian and American talent unions.
  • Negotiating and drafting music licenses and composer agreements.
  • Organizing and managing deal flow and processes.
  • Collaborating with internal business partners and production business units on miscellaneous day-to-day issues that arise across all Blue Ant productions.
  • General organizational tasks for the production legal team, including creation and maintenance of agreement templates.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of the television industry (production, broadcaster and distribution).
  • Exceptional drafting skills, organizational and communication skills.
  • Extremely detail oriented.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize and manage competing deadlines.
  • A problem solver and self-starter who is flexible and adaptable when necessary.
  • A team player with a willingness to help other team members with various tasks.
