Key Responsibilities- AC Interference Modeling: Perform complex AC interference modeling using specialized computer software, including data input and analysis.
- AC Mitigation System Design: Design AC mitigation systems to reduce the risk of electrical shock to pipeline personnel and integrity risks to the pipeline.
- CP and AC Interference Survey Data Assessment: Assess CP and AC interference survey data to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- AC and DC Interference Mitigation System Design: Design AC and DC interference mitigation systems to protect pipelines and facilities.
- Third-Party Review: Conduct third-party reviews of CP and AC interference designs, reports, and inspection and commissioning data.
- Engineering Calculations: Perform engineering calculations, including resistance, current distribution, ground potential rise, and other relevant calculations.
- Installation Coordination: Coordinate the installation of AC mitigation and cathodic protection systems.
- Design Development: Develop detailed designs as required and collaborate with drafting personnel to prepare design drawing packages.
- Field Work: Participate in field work, including soil resistivity testing, structure potentials, right-of-way evaluations, and constructability assessments for AC mitigation and CP systems.
- Technical Reporting: Prepare technical assessment and design reports, as well as procedures and specifications.
- Industry Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on applicable pipeline and integrity codes and standards.
- Education: University degree in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of engineering experience in AC mitigation, with a minimum of 1-2 years of modeling experience with SES CDEGS software and/or other software.
- Certifications: AMPP (NACE) certification and CP experience are an asset.
- Skills: Strong understanding of AC interference, including field data gathering and troubleshooting; excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and mapping tools such as Google Earth and AbaData.
