Bakery Assistant Job Description

Cindy's Your Independent Grocer # 1830 is seeking a skilled Bakery Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our bakery team, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of sweet and savory goods, including bread, pastries, and cakes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and bake dough, batters, and icings according to recipes and customer orders
  • Requisition and order materials, equipment, and supplies
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food
  • Prepare special orders and decorate cakes and baked goods
  • Draw up production schedules and ensure quality of products meets established standards
  • Inspect kitchen and food service areas and operate machinery
  • Organize and maintain inventory and oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience or equivalent experience
  • Ability to distinguish between colours, attention to detail, and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle heavy loads, and work under pressure
