Crop Input Manager Job Description

About the Role:

The Crop Input Manager will oversee all aspects of the Crop Input Department, requiring a deep understanding of agronomy, crop protection products, fertilizers, and seed technologies. This role involves collaborating closely with farmers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure the efficient and effective use of crop inputs to maximize yields while minimizing environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to direct reports and operational staff to ensure successful implementation and delivery of operational plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulations regarding the handling, storage, and application of crop inputs.
  • Source, negotiate, and procure crop inputs, including fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and seeds from reputable suppliers.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in crop input technologies and provide guidance to farmers on product selection based on soil types, crop varieties, and pest pressures.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including farmers, suppliers, agronomists, and regulatory agencies.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in agricultural input management or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agribusiness, or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of agronomic principles, crop production practices, and crop protection products.
  • Certification with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologist or eligibility for certification.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate with diverse teams.
