Job Description

As a Senior Counsel, Privacy & Data Protection, Identity at Mastercard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's Identity Solutions comply with privacy and data-related laws globally. This position will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Privacy and Data Protection and be a member of the Global Privacy & Data Protection team as well as a member of the Law & Policy (L&P) team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Mastercard's Identity Solutions are compliant with global privacy and data laws.
  • Develop strategic guidance to enable products and services in compliance with applicable global privacy and data laws.
  • Negotiate complex product-related agreements representing Mastercard's position on critical data protection considerations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the Global Privacy & Data Protection team, Law and Policy Department, Sales and Commercialization teams, and other business functions.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have a Canadian law degree and membership to a Bar (if permitted by law).
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in a related field.
  • Solid knowledge of global privacy laws, including the GDPR, CCPA, and relevant regulatory guidelines and opinions.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with business and end customers leading direct negotiation of complex product-related agreements independently.
  • Superior time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytic capabilities and written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven experience in relationship building and partnering.
  • Ability to motivate and influence highly skilled professionals to achieve major organizational goals.
