Job Summary

Canada Post is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supervising the mail delivery and mail processing operations within a Local Area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the daily operation of a team to ensure the safe and efficient sortation, routing, and delivery of mail in accordance with regulations, procedures, and instructions.
  • Supervise the processing of all classes of mail in a postal facility, ensuring timely and efficient processing.
  • Set daily priorities to ensure that deadlines and service commitments are met, and monitor and follow up on delivery and scanning exceptions.
  • Liaise with other functions in operations to ensure the efficient movement of mail, and promote and implement workplace safety and health programs for their work unit.
  • Coach and direct employees on safe work practices to reduce accident frequency and severity, conduct investigations, and report and follow up on accident incidents.
  • Address and resolve health and safety issues in a timely and efficient manner, and participate as a member of the local health and safety committee.
  • Oversee the return-to-work and accommodation of employees unable to perform the full range of duties in their job.
  • Supervise, coach, and provide guidance and leadership to employees, promoting a respectful environment in the workplace.
  • Administer human resources processes such as staffing, performance management, disability management, and attendance management.
  • Resolve staff issues, including disciplinary action if required, and consult with Labour Relations and/or union representatives on the application of the terms of the collective agreement.
  • Create learning and knowledge transfer opportunities for assigned staff, and estimate workloads to arrange for adequate staff to be on duty.
  • Assign and confirm available staff to different areas of the operation according to fluctuating mail volume, and request additional equipment or services as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or provincial equivalent (GED) (Equivalent Experience may be accepted in lieu of a High School Diploma)
  • Minimum 1 year experience managing a team OR Minimum 2 years' experience working within a unionized environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (understand the major features of each software application)

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma
