About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Mechanical Engineering Projects to join our Buildings M&E – Transportation team at WSP Global Inc. in Thornhill.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a well-established mechanical engineering group and be responsible for managing technical, financial, resourcing, and design quality. As a hands-on manager-engineer, you will have deep involvement in project design and implementation from proposal to construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a multidisciplinary project team focused on client-specific requirements, including planning, engineering design, construction, post-construction, and financial management deliverables.
- Develop and empower a diverse group of professionals and technical support staff.
- Lead complex infrastructure design and mechanical solutions to clients.
- Participate in proposals and pursuits, providing technical leadership, financial and technical project management, resourcing, business development, and team performance assistance.
- Collaborate with other discipline managers, including structural, electrical, lighting, BIM, civil, and more.
Requirements
- A minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 12+ years of consulting engineering experience.
- Registered Professional Engineer with PEO or other provinces.
- Experience with transportation projects, including buses, trains, airports, water ports, marinas, and more.
- Familiarity with various project delivery methods, such as Alliance, Design-Build, IPD, and conventional DBB.
- Strong technical background and ability to manage and mentor technical staff.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, sanitary & storm piping, domestic hot and cold water distribution, natural gas distribution, fire protection, and BAS integration.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills to deal with internal and external clients, other disciplines, and engineers.
- Previous success in client management and proposal/report writing.
- Familiarity with Transportation clients, such as TTC, GO, Metrolinx, VIA, VIVA, CN, CP, MiWAY, Regional Transit Agencies, GTAA, and more.
