At Huawei Technologies Canada Co., Ltd., we are seeking a highly motivated and talented Co-op Data Science Engineer to join our team. As a Co-op Data Science Engineer, you will be responsible for researching and building generative AI models using large language models (LLMs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and fine-tune scalable LLMs for various applications.
  • Collaborate with UX designers and front-end developers to incorporate user interface design into the generative AI platform.
  • Work with platform software engineers to integrate the generative AI model into our existing solutions.
  • Conduct technical research and present findings to the team.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in mathematics and statistics.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and Java, with a strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented programming.
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms, exploratory data analysis, and NLP libraries such as SpaCy and NLTK.
  • Familiarity with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Theoretical knowledge of advanced NLP concepts, including transformers and transfer learning.
  • Prior experience in AI/ML development, preferably in a co-op setting.
