Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procure, store, prepare, compound, package, maintain, issue, and distribute drugs, chemicals, and supplies in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Review prescriptions for compliance with federal and provincial law.
  • Perform final checks on prepared medications before dispensing.
  • Dispense medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Identify and report drug-related problems to pharmacists.
  • Provide instructions to patients on the use of medical devices.
  • Precept and train Pharmacy Technicians-in-training, Pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Successful completion of a CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate or the program prescribed by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba.
  • Listing as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba is required.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Regional Pharmacy Program Pharmacy Technician competency assessments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluency in the English language.
  • Demonstrated competency in pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
