Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Haulage Operator to join our team at Emterra Group, a leading provider of environmental solutions in Canada.
About the Role
This is a full-time opportunity to work as a Shunt Driver, hauling materials within and outside our site. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment and possess a valid GZ license (AZ preferred).
Key Responsibilities
- Haul material from various areas inside and outside the site.
- Mount and dismount heavy truck several times a day.
- Check all delivery slips and scale tickets thoroughly.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork daily.
- Complete safety inspections on equipment and submit to shift supervisor at the beginning of each shift.
- Perform a daily pre-inspection of equipment and record the results.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment (i.e. greasing).
- Ability to understand hand signals and voice/radio communication with others.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in load handling, placement of equipment and material.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulations, including those related to safety, security, and environmental standards.
- Knowledgeable and strong understanding of work zone radius and possible hazards.
- Ability to adapt and adjust to various assignments as requested by Supervisor.
Requirements
- GZ license required, AZ preferred.
- Experience operating heavy equipment (excavator/truck) preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, twist, etc.
- Ability to work and drive outside in all weather conditions.
- Able to work independently.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Mechanically inclined.
- First Aid and CPR is an asset.
