About This Opportunity

The HVAC Apprentice Technician at Black & McDonald's Southwest Ontario team is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of various HVAC equipment. This includes installation, identification of malfunctioning parts/equipment, repair, inspection, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and service chillers, heat pumps, steam boilers, air handling units, fans, humidifiers, pumps, VAV boxes, motors, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, replace, calibrate, and program HVAC control systems.
  • Replace filters and belts, update documentation, and install new services in renovation or building changes.
  • Respond to environment comfort complaints and perform log readings.

  • Communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service.
  • Solve problems, innovate, and work collaboratively as part of a team.

Education and Work Experience Requirements

  • Must be a registered Apprentice Year 3 or above with a valid G2 gas license.
  • Working knowledge of building services, including air conditioning, refrigeration, and electrical and mechanical equipment controls and systems.

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

  • Good analytical skills with attention to detail, ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and adhere to company standards.
